OVERVIEW PERFORMANCE SUSTAINABILITY FINANCIALS APPENDIX Water Management Water-Saving Measures GRI [3-3] [303-1] [303-2] [303-3] Perennial Holdings views water as a finite resource and recognises the risk of water scarcity issues to its operations and neighbouring communities, particularly in water-scarce Singapore. Therefore, Perennial Holdings proactively implements measures to ensure water efficiency in its properties and healthcare facilities. The Company tracks its water usage and continues to install water meters in all properties to obtain more accurate water consumption readings, respond promptly to leaks and identify opportunities for water conservation. It also installs water-efficient taps and fittings in its properties and educates stakeholders on the importance of water conservation. To reduce water consumption in Singapore, Perennial Holdings utilises NEWater in its operations and replaces end-of-life water fittings with substitutes that are graded with WELS ticks issued by the Public Utilities Board (“PUB”), which is Singapore’s National Water Agency. In China, Perennial Holdings continues to maintain its water-saving measures, such as installing advanced water-efficient taps. It has also introduced water conservation initiatives at the Perennial Jihua Mall in Foshan, such as adjusting water valves in toilets, installing water monitoring meters and harvesting rainwater for watering plants. At Fengxian, used water is collected and treated at an on-site wastewater treatment station before being discharged into the domestic wastewater system to minimise environmental impact. Perennial Holdings ensures that all wastewater discharged from its assets complies with the minimum standard and quality required by local authorities in Singapore and China. Relevant laws and regulations pertaining to this can be found in the “Compliance with Laws and Regulations” section of this Report. In FY2023, Perennial Holdings recorded a total water consumption of 636,676 cubic meters (“m3”) across its Singapore and China assets (shown in Figure 7). Singapore’s water consumption can be divided into two categories – municipal water and NEWater. As shown in Figure 8, 59% of water consumed in FY2023 is NEWater whereas 41% is municipal water. The total water consumption for FY2023 does not include data from The Skywaters at 8 Shenton Way (undergoing redevelopment). It includes water consumption from the newly completed property, PBC, and as such, does not offer a like-for-like comparison to last year’s report. In Figure 9, a comparison of Perennial Holdings’ water consumption in Singapore and China is presented on a like-for-like basis. FY2023 figures have been adjusted by including data from Xiehe and excluding data for PBC to enable comparability with FY2022 figures. In FY2023, the total like-for-like water consumption increased by 7% from FY2022 levels. This increase was a result of the resumption of full-scale operations following the easing of COVID-19 measures. Perennial Holdings also strives to reduce its usage of freshwater in its Singapore operations by utilising NEWater whenever possible. To ensure comparability with FY2022 data, the NEWater consumption figures for FY2023, shown in Figure 10, exclude data from the newly established PBC. In FY2023, on a like-for-like basis, Perennial Holdings consumed a total of about 113,008 m3 of NEWater, which represented 55% of its total water consumption in Singapore – a 6% increase from FY2022.
