Perennial Holdings Private Limited - Annual Report 2023

OVERVIEW PERFORMANCE SUSTAINABILITY FINANCIALS APPENDIX ENVIRONMENT Guided by the Group’s Environment and Climate Change Mitigation Policy, Perennial Holdings’ Sustainability Steering Committee is responsible for overseeing and managing the Company’s environmental footprint, along with directing its various efforts and initiatives. This policy serves as a guide for employees to improve energy use efficiency and foster environmental consciousness within the workplace. As a result, there have been marked improvements in energy efficiency across Perennial Holdings’ properties and increased environmental awareness among employees and stakeholders. In both its real estate and healthcare businesses within the reporting scope, Perennial Holdings has consistently achieved its annual environmental targets. Each asset is assigned a dedicated management team to monitor energy and water consumption levels, conduct costbenefit analyses and explore alternative methods to enhance energy efficiency. Over time, efficiency measures like light retrofitting and improved water consumption measurements have been implemented across the Company’s properties. For real estate assets, an Asset Control Group (“ACG”) is responsible for analysing consumption data for each property. Variances or potential data issues are identified by comparing current energy consumption data with past data. During monthly review meetings, irregularities in electricity and water consumption are identified, discussed and remedied. This trend analysis guides Perennial Holdings in setting future goals and identifying areas for energy-saving initiatives. Monthly cleaning of air conditioner filters and roof cooling towers' filters and the use of exhaust and supply fans to reduce start-up time for air conditioners in malls also improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption. This year, Perennial Holdings introduced new energy-saving measures such as retrofitting existing infrastructure, installing EV Chargers and deploying solar panels. Three escalators in Perennial Qingyang Mall in Chengdu were replaced with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient variable frequency escalators. Unlike their traditional counterparts that run at a constant speed regardless of usage, variable frequency escalators utilise motion sensors to modulate their speed. Whenever a passenger is detected, these escalators operate at their usual speed but decelerate or stop when not in use, thus minimising unnecessary energy consumption. In an additional effort to save energy, Perennial Holdings installed 1,904 solar panels at PBC. Covering an extensive area of 4,920 sqm, these solar panels generated 1,101,564 kWh of electricity in FY2023. Furthermore, new EV charging stations were installed in Perennial Qingyang Mall in Chengdu and PBC’s carparks, catering to visitors who conscientiously choose environmentally friendly and energy-efficient EVs for their commute. 103 ANNUAL REPORT 2023
