Sustainability Report Safety inspections are crucial in ensuring a safe and healthy environment in Perennial Holdings’ eldercare homes. These inspections are designed to identify potential hazards or deficiencies in equipment, processes or procedures that could lead to accidents. Early detection of risks can allow for appropriate corrective actions and prevent potential harm to residents. All eldercare homes perform the following procedures to prepare for safety inspections. To minimise potential health and safety risks, extensive SOPs have been developed and implemented. For instance, PIHMH has a comprehensive list of policies and procedures on emergency readiness and safety inspections. This encompasses the selection, composition and responsibilities of the safety and emergency team. It also details the reporting systems for safety issues and emergencies, emergency plans and staff training procedures. These SOPs and policies are reviewed regularly to confirm their robustness and compliance with the most updated guidelines and practices. At the eldercare homes, overnight patrols and exit rules are strictly enforced to ensure the accountability and safety of elderly residents. Besides the routine safety inspections carried out by dedicated Safety Personnel and Safety Officers, guidelines are in place to prioritise residents’ safety during emergency situations such as: • Outbreak of diseases • Accidents and injuries such as slips, trips and falls, burns and abrasions • Fire and other related accidents All medical staff are trained in emergency procedures and their readiness is regularly assessed through simulation exercises. The eldercare homes also provide fire safety education, annual evacuation drills and display safety posters and evacuation plans for quick reference in case of emergencies. In FY2023, there were no incidences of health and safety non-compliance at Perennial Holdings’ eldercare and healthcare properties. Fengxian, Hongqiao, Xiehe and PIHMH also achieved their targets of zero fatality rate and zero incidents of any health and safety issues – a performance Perennial Holdings aims to maintain. Safety inspections are conducted by authorities such as the Civil Affairs Bureau, Jinhui Fire and Safety Department and the State Administration for Market Regulation at Fengxian. The management team and all employees take great care to ensure that all processes are in place and implemented strictly in the eldercare homes.
